• Wound cleaning supplies: iodine wipes or a pet-safe antiseptic spray

• Antibiotic ointment: a small amount of over-the-counter triple antibiotic ointment (ensure your pet cannot lick the area) if has been utilised in previous ocassions.

• Sterile eye wash: saline eye rinse suitable for flushing debris

• Instant cold pack: to help reduce swelling

• Tweezers or tick remover: especially important if you visit tick-prone areas

• Thermometer: ideally soft or flexible tipped (rectal thermometers are most accurate for pets)

• Temporary splinting materials: a rolled magazine can serve as an emergency splint, plus a blanket that can be used as a stretcher

• Muzzle: even the gentlest pet may react unpredictably when in pain

• Sterile gloves: to protect yourself while providing care

• Medical records: copies of vaccination history and any significant medical information
